North East, PA (July 9, 2014): Save-A-Lot, PNC Bank, and The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School will present a fun night of racing entertainment for kids and people of all ages Saturday night at Lake Erie Speedway.
Along with fun activities for the kids, race fans will witness two twenty-lap feature events for the Plyler Overhead Door Modifieds. The Plyler Overhead Door Modifieds have had an exciting year in 2014 with only one repeat winner. The only repeat visit to Victory Lane came last Saturday night when defending champion and current points leader Randy Culver made his second trip to the checkered circle. Culver currently holds a ten point lead over Eric McCray and another 17 points over third running Chris Briggs. Dennis Hagg Jr and Terry Akerly round out the top five in the standings. Other feature winners include Carter Mook, Scott Wylie, and Chris Bailey Jr. Can Culver extend his title defense with another win? Can the other top runners enter Victory Lane? Can any of the other winners repeat? There are two chances to put a notch in the win column this week! Two chances to join the elite of Lake Erie Speedway!
Only one driver has been to the Street Stock Victory Lane this summer. That dominating driver is Dave Krawczyk, winner of all five feature events run in 2014. His impeccable record has rewarded the West Seneca, NY driver a 95-point lead over second-running Russ Conti. Jay Queen is right behind Conti, a mere three points back. Ed Hall and Chris Crossman round out the top five. Who can end Krawczyk's reign over Victory Lane? Anyone? Will he extend his streak to six?
Jeff Breads has three wins in the exciting Compacts feature racing, including last Saturday night's 25-lap special. A huge 85 point lead is enjoyed by Breads over Bob Moore and Philip Powell, tied for second. Brandon Huffman and Phil Jackson, a rookie, are tied for fourth, only twelve points out of second. Can Breads extend his lead and his winning streak week? Who will emerge as the most likely to catch Breads in the championship chase?
Jeff Dunfee III holds a narrow five-point lead in the U.S. Legend Cars title race over Carl Vilardo IV although neither has yet visited Victory Lane this season. Brandon DeBrakeleer has been the most frequent visitor to the Winner's Circle with three trips there. He trails Vilardo IV by a razor thin difference of one point! Only six points separate the top three. Owen Bednasz trails DeBrakeleer by 82-markers with RJ White another nine points back in fifth. Can DeBrakeleer continue his winning ways or can Dunfee III or Vilardo IV finally break into the Winner's Circle? What about single winners Jeremy Haudricourt and Evan Finley? Both have only competed in one feature, but each winning. Will they win if they pull on to the track this week?
Brothers Daniel and Donald Buell lead the INEX Bandoleros standings. Donald has been to Victory Lane three times but trails Daniel, a two time winner, by fourteen points due to one last place finish due to mechanical failure. Chase Firestone is third, 45-points behind Donald Buell. Dale Lombardo and Matt Mead round out the top five. Can anyone not named Buell break into the Winner's Circle? Can defending champion Matt Mead regain his 2013 form?
All of the above questions will be answered this coming Saturday evening. It will be a full night of racing entertainment for all race fans.
Following the racing entertainment a fireworks display will be presented on the backstretch.
