U.S. Legend Cars 50-lap National Qualifier this Saturday at Lake Erie Speedway

North East, PA (August 21 2014): The U.S. Legend Cars will contest a 50-lap National Qualifier at Lake Erie Speedway as part of the Mark Bruns Agency/Nationwide Insurance Night at the Races presented by the U.S. Air Force this Saturday, August 23rd.  Also on the card will be the three feature events that were not run last week due to rain, the 30 lap U.S. Legend Cars feature, the 30 lap Street Stock feature, and the 40 lap Plyler Overhead Door Modified feature.

With only three weeks left in the season Jeff Dunfee III holds a 23-point margin over Carl Vilardo IV despite being winless on the season in the U.S. Legend Cars division.  Vilardo IV has three wins while Brandon DeBrakeleer, only five points back of Vilardo IV, has three wins, all in the first month of the season.  Fourth and fifth, over 100 points behind third, are RJ White and Owen Bednasz.  Two features this week will allow Vilardo IV the chance to close the gap again or even pull ahead.

Five time winner Randy Culver leads the Plyler Overhead Door Modifieds as the season draws toward a close by 33-points over Eric McCray, a single winner.  Chris Briggs and JP Weisser, both winless, are third and fourth with Carter Mook, a single winner, fifth.  Two features on the card will give all drivers a chance to improve their standings.

Dave Krawczyk is undefeated in the 2014 Season Fueled By Kwik Fill and holds a huge 132-point edge over Russ Conti in the NASCAR Street Stocks.  Ed Hall, Chris Crossman, and Tim Arthur fill out the top five.  There will be two chances to deny Krawczyk another win but he has been exceptionally strong right from the first green flag of the season.  To add to the excitement of Krawczyk’s win streak there will be a $100 bonus to the driver who beats Krawczyk in the second feature event scheduled for this Saturday night. Yes that is right, the Bounty is out!  The rules of the bounty are simple.  If Krawczyk gets beat, the driver that wins the feature will take home an extra $100.  However, if Krawczyk is intentionally taken out by another driver in the feature event, the bonus money will not be awarded.  If Krawczyk wins the feature event and keeps the streak alive, the $100 bonus money will roll over to the next scheduled feature event for a total of a $200 bounty.

With three wins this season, Jeff Breads leads the season long points battle in the NASCAR Compacts by 123 over Brandon Huffman with Bob Moore another 17-points back.  The big winner of the year has been Jim Tobin with five trips to Victory Lane but he is mired back in fourth, 35-markers from third. Bondy Stoyer rounds out the top five.

The Buell brothers still lead the INEX Bandoleros field despite 2013 champion Matt Mead coming on strong over the recent weeks.  Daniel Buell leads Donald Buell by only nine points with Mead fifteen further back.  The three leaders are the only visitors to Victory Lane this season with Daniel going twice and Donald and Mead making three trips to the favored spot.

Following the racing entertainment a fireworks display will be presented on the backstretch.

Grandstand Gates open at 5:00pm, Heat Races/Make Up Features begin at 6:00pm, and Feature Races begin at 7:05pm.  Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 years old, and kids 5 and under are FREE.
