Welcome to Lake Erie Speedway!
This year we celebrate our 10th Anniversary Season known as “Season X fueled by Kwik Fill”! We opened our gates for the first race ever on June 21, 2002. I can remember that first race event like it was yesterday, and I remember the excitement I felt as the gates finally opened. I still get just as excited each and every week as we open our gates to the best asphalt racing facility in the country!
We truly have one of the finest racing facilities and we are proud to showcase our six race divisions that take part in events sanctioned by NASCAR and INEX. Weekly race divisions include the Plyler Overhead Door Late Models (NASCAR), Jensens Target Collision Compacts (NASCAR), Modifieds (NASCAR), Street Stocks (NASCAR), Legends (INEX), and Bandoleros (INEX). In 2011, Lake Erie Speedway is one of only 55 short tracks (out of more than 1,100 short tracks nationwide) to be able to carry the NASCAR name as a part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. We are very proud of our competitors for the amount of time and effort they put in every week in their quest for track points and a track championship. We are fortunate to have some of the best competitors in the entire Northeast United States.
In addition to our weekly racing events, Lake Erie Speedway plays host to some big time special events and extended lap race events. The special events returning this year include the very popular Crash-A-Rama featuring School Bus Figure 8 Racing and Monster Jam featuring Grave Digger. We will see a return of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stars in 2011, as Kurt and Kyle Busch will be at Lake Erie Speedway on Saturday, August 6th. Extended lap race events include an appearance by the Lucas Oil Can Am Midget Series and Casey’s TQ Midget Series on Saturday, June 4th and a 75 lap Plyler Overhead Door Late Model Feature Event on Saturday, July 2nd. The July 2nd event also includes the best Fireworks Extravaganza in the area presented by Homestead Oak, Inc.
Our goal is to always provide something for the whole family with a “racing experience” and “entertainment experience”. The Marquette Savings Bank Kid’s Fun Zone continues to be an incredible area for kids of all ages to have a blast on race nights with inflatable bounce houses, a slide, a rock climbing wall, and more. The pyrotechnics and other special features that take place on a race night show how Lake Erie Speedway is dedicated to enhancing the fan experience. We like to end every race night with an awesome fireworks show presented by Homestead Oak, Inc.!
The fan experience is our number one priority, so we invite you to enjoy your time at Lake Erie Speedway. On behalf of the owners, management staff, employees, competitors, and sponsors, we thank you for making us a part of your entertainment plans and promise to work hard to give you great racing and great entertainment. As always, at Lake Erie Speedway you must remember: It's not just racing...It's Racing Entertainment!
Sincerely,
