We don't even know where to start; it's been such an awesome season thanks you all of you who came out to support our events - whether it was to cheer on local drivers, catch a glimpse of the competitions, participate in a charity walk, or ride around in a Monster Truck. We cannot do what we love without you and our sponsors so just in case you missed some or all of the action, we're going to do a quick recap of the season's highlights down below.
The Spring, Summer, and Fall MatsErie events, Vibes, Winter Drifting, Smash-o-Lantern, and the PAOHNY drift clinic, along with 4 rounds of the Great Lakes Pro-AM Series gave us so much to be excited about. We got to watch some of you come up through the years and make your way from novice drifters to skilled athletes competing for a Formula Drift PROSPEC license. Every year without fail you guys push the limits with your builds and driving styles. The community that we've all built and the crowds that show up for these events are top-tier and we couldn't ask for a better track-day group. We'd also like to give our best wishes to the drivers who gave it their all and took home the Formula Drift PROSPEC license prize: Dan Malvasio, Andrew Shorkey, and Fred Maybach - we can't wait to see how your carers progress from here.
It's truly amazing what some people are willing to do to please an audience and the drivers from Crash-A-Rama, All Star Monster Trucks, and The ATV Big Air Tour take it to a whole other level. They come out here with no fear to perform their gravity-defying tricks, set things on fire, somersault through the air, speed around the track towing a boat or a trailer, and flip over school buses all in the name of entertainment. How could you not be on the edge of your seat?
Race Of Champions
Whether you're into Modifieds, Super Stocks, Four Cylinder Dash Series, TQ Midgets, Late Models, Sportsman Modifieds or just racing in general, the Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions, including the 72nd Annual Lucas Oil ROC 250 brought it. The weather proved to be a tough opponent this year beating out everyone and forcing an early end to the event but the races we were able to get in were well worth the effort on everyone's part.
Off The Track
Lake Erie Speedway dabbles in more than just motorsports- we're open to any events that will serve our residents. This year we welcomed back the Wine, Brews, Spirits, and Food Truck Festival which is always a great time to get together with friends, co-workers, and family to enjoy local offerings and live band performances. We also had the opportunity to welcome the Autism Society NWPA for their 21st Annual Walk for Autism; saw a lot of familiar faces on the track wearing their walking shoes and it makes us so proud to be a part of such a supportive community.
We hope that everyone who came out to Lake Erie Speedway this year, as a participant, a sponsor, a spectator, a judge, or a vendor- we appreciate you and your continued support. Tracks and speedways around the country are closing faster than ever and we know that our gates wouldn't stay open without you. We hope you all have a safe winter, enjoy time with your family and friends over the holidays, and look forward to seeing new and old faces at our first event of 2023.
...and a final thank you to all of our sponsors.
