Making Memories at Lake Erie Speedway: Help Keep the Tradition Alive

Updated: Mar 13, 2023

This may not be our usual content but it's important and hits close to home. We are always asking for feedback from our community about events we're hosting, what you'd like to see more of, and ways we can improve the experiences we offer year after year. That being said, we read every comment, see every message, and do our best to answer all your questions and concerns while trying to bring events to our venue that make everyone in Erie, PA, and the surrounding area feels like they have a place here. Sometimes our comment sections do not line up with what we're trying to achieve and that's something we are working on by asking everyone to engage in a respectful manner. Thank you to those who speak up and support us on social media, we truly appreciate it and we do notice.

We know many of you have been asking us to bring back weekly racing, and there have been a few suggestions to do a dirt track event or two. We are 100% open to these ideas but the costs to make it happen are significant. We're not COTA or Eldora Speedway, and our operating budget is nothing like other venues but we take pride in what we've built here and will continue to offer as much as we can, as often as possible. We've crunched all the numbers and what we need is a local pit that is willing to donate the dirt and sponsor an event. If you know of anyone who would be down to make that happen, have them reach out, we'd be happy to work with them.

Now, weekly racing. It's possible but it's not a quick decision to make- ultimately weekly racing has to be sustainable. If you truly want circle track racing back at Lake Erie Speedway, you can show your support by showing up to the ROC makeup date. It's incredibly difficult to find sponsors or justify spending funds for a weekly event when attendance at one of our only circle track events of the year is low. It sucks but it's facts.

We're not saying no though and we would like to know how many of you would sign up for weekly racing and what do you think a reasonable cost would be. Should it be a monthly fee? A season pass? What would you be willing to pay? We're always up for more racing and seeing you all tear up the track but it has to make sense. Let us know in the comments below!

This is a heavy piece, and we know that everyone who comments on ways we can breathe new life into the track is coming from a good place and we want to facilitate whatever events we can that will bring our community closer together. We truly couldn't do what we do without you. We're committed to bringing events that appeal to all age groups so that everyone can make memories at our track because our hope is to keep Lake Erie Speedway alive and thriving for many years to come. Check out our event calendar to get a jump start on your summer planning and grab your tickets to many of our events right now.

We know that not everyone can make it out to every event, or any event and that's okay. All we ask is that you continue to show your support by liking, sharing, and commenting on our blogs and social media. We're excited about the upcoming season and can't wait to see you all at Lake Erie Speedway.

If you're a business owner and would like to sponsor an event or know someone who wants to help your favorite speedway, have them send us a DM, give us a call or contact us via the website. See you all soon!
