I would first like to thank all of our staff, competitors, marketing partners, and fans for an impressive 2009 Season! We have accomplished a lot of great things in recent years, and we look forward to continuing the success as one of the premier short tracks in America.

There have been recent rumors regarding the future of the racing surface at Lake Erie Speedway. I believe these rumors were based on misinterpretations of an article in the Erie Times News (Sunday, September 27, 2009) regarding our possible interest to host TEMPORARY dirt track events once our asphalt racing season has concluded. I would like to assure our competitors and fans that we are an asphalt facility and will remain an asphalt facility in terms of the racing season that happens here May through the beginning of September each year.

The temporary dirt track concept is something that we are researching to see if it is even possible to hold these types of events. The possibility of becoming a full time dirt track has never crossed our minds. We are proud to be an asphalt track that is a part of both the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and INEX. The entire dirt track concept would simply be considered “Special Events” that we may be able to host from the middle of September through the middle of October with touring series and non traditional events.

We are proud of what we have accomplished and what we continue to accomplish here at Lake Erie Speedway, and we look forward to seeing you at the races for the 2010 Season!
